- Perhaps it would be useful to relate my recent experiences here:
-
- I ordered and received my SupraV.32bis modem within about 2 weeks, and
- was pleased with the modem package, overall.
-
- However, I noticed two things wrong with my modem. One, when the line was
- busy, the modem would do a warm reset, flashing its LED display and all,
- and never return the word BUSY to the system. Very annoying. Also, after
- the modem had been on for about 10 minutes, the problem went away.
-
- The second problem was that the modem would not hang up properly. It would
- eventually let go of the line, but only after training or something for about
- five minutes.
-
- Anyway, I called Supra and their tech people sent me a replacement in a few
- days. I was pretty happy with their support and turnaround time. HOWEVER,
- when I plugged THIS modem in, it refused to connect at 9600 or 14.4K !?!?!!
- It did handle busy signals just fine, tho.
-
- So, I called tech support again, and they are sending me another replacement.
-
- The thing that worries me tho, is both modems roms were 1.200c. So, rom
- upgrades wouldnt do a bit of good. However, the two modems behaved very
- differently. I have never had any problems with other Supra products,
- but I'm kind of concerned about their quality control on these modems.
- How can I be sure the thing works as it should, especially
- those details which arent so obvious? Oh well. Lets hope the next replacement
- works.
