- Help!
-
- I just purchased a SupraFaxModem V.32bis. II have had a couple of
- problems I do not understand.
- I called A Telegard BBS, and all went well. Fast transfer,
- etc. But when I tried to logoff, my Modem's LED gave me a TE
- (transmission error). This has me puzzled. The Supra reference manual
- specifies that this is a LAPM data transmission error (I was using
- V.42 at the time for a 19,200 bps connect).
- Here's the worse part, I called a local Hermes board
- (Macintosh), and while reading mail I got a TE. It stopped after a
- while, then I got another TE. Then I got NO CARRIER. I tried calling
- the board back, but it appears I crashed it somehow. This is very upsetting.
-
- Setup: I am on a Mac SE/30, and have a HWHS cable on the Supra
- v.32bis. I am using the Macintosh Factory setting &F1 (with the
- speaker off; I hate speakers). Here is the whole thing: AT &F1 E1 V1 M.
- I use the Mac Factory setting here because my other communication
- software sets the modem for other purposes (Fax deactivates V.42bis,
- etc.) I use the 19,200 bps setting for 14,400 bps connections.
- (Query: Would setting it to 57,600 bps eliminate the TE? If so, why?)
-
- Please no flames, just help.
-
- Direct E-mail, please.
