- You misunderstand; I've never seen a comm program that speaks 14400 bps,
- nor do I expect that I ever will. There's no need for it.
-
- The modems speak to each other at 14400 bps, but they
- speak to their respective computers at high speeds (19200, 38400, or even
- 57600) to take advantage of increased throughput due to start and stop bit
- removal, data compression, etc. CTS handshaking signals the computer to stop
- sending if you're sending to the modem faster than it can transmit.
-
- Even 9600 bps modems speak to their computers at 19200 or higher; that's
- how you get throughput higher than 960 CPS.
