- Not so obvious! I'd put them in here, but I'm using my system console to
- enter this message, so it won't prove a thing. Any modem which uses the
- technique described in the Hetherington '302 patent, licensed by Hayes or not,
- will *not* hang up when it sees the three plusses unless there's a pause of at
- least one second preceding them and following them.

- Also, many operators of dialin facilities use DTR, not the escape code, to
- hang up; they have S2 set to a value greater than 127, which disables the
- escape code entirely.
