  34. Well, i can just speak about some problems connecting to plain modems in
  35. general with the supra, that is modems with no error-correction or compression.
  36. Because these modems can`t do it, they receive after a connection the bytes
  37. with which the sending modem (in our case the supra) tries to make a
  38. MNP or V.42(bis) connection, but these bytes will then be normally received
  39. by the receiving modem and so directly to the BBS or whatever you call.
  40. Now it depends heavily on how the BBS reacts on such "garbage" during
  41. login. If its a good one, it`ll just leave out these characters or wait a
  42. few seconds after connect to ensure not getting those "connect" bytes.

  44. I had big problems when calling my university, as they still have only plainb
  45. modems without any MNP or V.42(bis) and i also got thrown out in 50% of the
  46. times.

  48. But there is an easy solution to this:

  50. You just have to change the supra from auto-reliable to normal connect, where
  51. the Supra doesn`t try to make any MNP or V.42(bis) connection and therefor
  52. doesn`t send these garbage characters.

  54. The command for this is: AT\N0
  55.  
  56. I would recommend to include it in a second dial-startup string
  57. (like AT\N0D) and use this dial-startup string for every plain modem you are
  58. calling.
