- I have a problem with a Zyxel 1496 modem in autoanswer mode. I don't
- know if this is specific to this modem, though, because it's a behaviour
- I seem to see frequently.
-
- I have the modem set up for autoanswer and auto speed select (DTE held at
- a fixed speed). When dialing in at 2400 baud, I often hear the first
- lower pitch tone, and then the second higher one, but never followed by
- the noise that I assume is 2400 baud. Thus, I never get a connect. But
- if I hang up and dial in again, the Zyxel usually will cycle properly to
- 2400 and things are fine. This doesn't happen all the time, but
- frequently enough to be annoying.
-
- I've also observed this behaviour when dialing in to a Microcom 2400, as
- well, so as I mentioned above I don't know if this is a common problem
- or something I can cure at the answering modem end.
-
- Thanks...
