- Just to add this to the discussion, there are nearly 100 BBSes in Raleigh.
-
- *ONE* runs Searchlight.
-
- Now, granted, perhaps 10-15% of those BBSes aren't run on IBM-PC's, but
- that's still a pretty big ratio, I think, of non-SL to SL boards.
-
- Apparently, the folx around here like other BBS software better; mainly,
- TAG wins, followed closely by WWIV, in popularity. Following that seems
- to be OPUS, then PCBoard, then QBBS. Two boards run Waffle.
-
- I'm personally the proud registered owner of a copy of WWIV, for which you
- get access to source upon registering - only $50 to register - and there is
- no upgrade costs for release numbers with the same main release number
- (i.e., 4.00, up to 4.99). TAG seems to win over WWIV now alot because of
- it's Threading capability, menu configuration flexibility, and multi-node
- support. People who like to just slap the BBS up and run it run TAG. WWIV,
- on the other hand, is run by people who like to tinker with their system...
- people get it, regster it, get the source, and go hog wild in C...
