- 1. Threading is easy. Take some time and get to know it. It shouldn't take
- too long. Is 'next' really that hard to understand??? Is 'original' (message)
- that difficult to comprehend??? fnord is correct, the threading is very
- powerful, and one of the many reasons I like SearchLight BBS.
-
- 2. No, not quite. The user passwords were hidden for a reason - a good one.
- Imagine if all passwords were in plain text. Crackers ("Hackers" by some
- people...) would have the time of their life! It would make their 'job'
- a whole HECK of alot easier! They don't need to go trying to decipher encrypted
- passwords anymore, they just grab 'em and use 'em! Imagine if the SysOp
- password were in plain text. If anyone happened to find a hole in the system
- (most likely a door/external program) and got hold of that file - that could
- mean the end of your system, and everyones private email, or any other private
- things! Rethink on that one. It's not the sysop that is to be distrusted,
- it's the renegade user who's trying to attack your system!
-
- 3. Well, gee, that's funny, because the ==majority== of SL sysops that *I*
- know LOVE SearchLight, myself included! Try PCBoard on for size, or some
- other 'Top BBS'. You think SL is confusing!
