  21. & Applications announces a call for papers for a special issue
  22. focused on the application of AI-based-reasoning techniques to cope
  23. with problems of complexity and uncertainty in scheduling of
  24. production processes. Topics of interest include but are not
  25. limited to:
  26. +    Representation and reasoning with vague,
  27.         uncertain, and unknown knowledge in scheduling
  28. +    Heuristic reasoning to cope with the complexity in real
  29.         factories
  30. +    Reasoning to enable reactive and cooperative
  31.         scheduling
  32. +    Techniques to improve the robustness of schedules
  33. +    Cognitive modeling of the reasoning process in
  34.         scheduling
  35. +    Integration of AI-based reasoning with
  36.         mathematical algorithms

  38. SARA is an official journal of the
  39. International Society of Productivity Enhancement (ISPE), USA. ISPE
  40. organises International Conferences on CAD/CAM, robotics and Factories
  41. of the Future (CARS & FOF) annually. Submitted papers that could not
  42. be included in the special issue will be recommended for a possible
  43. presentation in one of the forthcoming CARS & FOF conferences which
  44. take place in France (1992), New Jersey (1993), and USSR(1993).

  46. Instructions for Submitting Manuscripts
  47. ---------------------------------------
  48. Authors interested in submitting papers for the special issue should send
  49. three copies of the manuscript to the guest editor (J. Dorn).
  50. Manuscripts should be no more than 25 double spaced pages (about 5000
  51. words) in length including all figures and references. Papers must not
  52. have been previously published or currently submitted for
  53. publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should have a title page that
  54. includes the title of the paper (less than 55 characters), full
  55. name(s), and affiliation(s) of the author(s), complete physical and
  56. electronic address(es), telphone number(s), and an abstract (200-500
  57. words).
