- To compete at the world level in women's gymnastics, you practically
- have to do it before biological maturation puts your body
- configuration over the hill. You should catch some local
- competition on a community cable channel some time and see how
- young they are when they _start_ public competition. Then think
- about the age at which they started _training_.

- Other Olympic musing: my impression of CTV coverage, compared to
- CBC's past performances, is that CTV are a bunch of clowns.
- Their lead-in music has no dignity or excitement, they cut to a
- double commercial break just before Spain entered the stadium at
- the opening ceremonies - fortunately I was able to catch this
- later on the US coverage - they have an anchor person from whom
- (this is a personal opinion only) my first impulse is that I
- wouldn't buy a stereo, and yesterday evening they managed a
- transition from Barcelona background material to a commercial
- that resulted in "Barcelona, city of history, culture, and ...
- the Garage Games."
