  19.         This note is of interest to ALL graduate students across the
  20. U.S.  If you feel that your stipend is an insult as it is without the
  21. added insult of federal and state taxes taking even more then NOW is
  22. the time to speak out.  There is a bill that is being brought before
  23. the U.S. House of Representatives about the restoration of the
  24. TAX-EXEMPT status we as graduate students used to enjoy (prior to the
  25. Reagan-Bush administrations). This bill would also return paid taxes
  26. that we have paid from 1986 on. NOW IS THE TIME TO USE YOUR ELECTED
  27. OFFICIALS AS A TOOL...CALL YOUR LOCAL REP. AND TELL HER/HIM THAT THIS
  28. BILL MUST BE SUPPORTED AND MUST PASS THE HOUSE!!! Believe it or not
