  22. A.  I'm Alabamian by birth and rearing, Arkansan by two-decade adoption.
  23. Tho' the Southeastern experience may make "dibs" preferred, that's what
  24. I hear in this neighborhood too.  The former's a geographical difference,
  25. placing me on Emory's western border; the latter may be geographical between
  26. AR and LA, or it could be chronological (tho' I hear "dibs" from young and
  27. old here).

  34. PS  Actually, the most apt expression from my youth for this occasion is
  35. probably "Christmas gift" (or CHRISTMAS GIFT, in deference to Peter Binkley)--
  36. or am I too cynical?
