  You're shooting from the hip *again*, old boy; sticking up for
good old-fashioned U.S. Imperialism is tremendously exhilarating,
but requires the proper intellectual *instruments*: the CORRECT tool
to use in defending Batista/Somoza etc. over Castro/Ortega is the
astoundingly learned distinction drawn by Jeanne Kirkpatrick (HEY,
who sez duh right wing's just a buncha goons who steal pension funds
to get rich? Dis dame's a *intellectual*!). This deep scholar's researches
point to the difference between an *authoritarian* regime (not so bad,
really, client of the white hats but not white hoods, have the good taste
to bury the bodies they don't fling from heliocopters) and a *totalitarian*
regime (BOO, hiss, BOO!!, no redeeming social importance, definitely NOT a
client state of the white hoods, sorry, white hats). Frau Professor Doktor
K. makes one heckuva bangup case for the difference between dying in the
two systems, too: if you die at the hands of totalitarians, it's to be
expected, because they are inherently evil in the first place, because
they DON'T BELIEVE IN A LOVING GOD; authoritarian regimes, on the other
hand, have accepted Christ as their personal saviour, and therefore aren't
really killing you, they're sending you to your reward; in a very *real*
sense, then, you're truly dead in the first case, but blessed with eternal
in the second (assuming in both cases that you've never had a child out
of wedlock).
