- RE: Robert Funnell's comments
- "Recently a number of postings to EDTECH have been messages
- forwarded from other sources. I personally find that this
- adds unnecessarily to the already almost overwhelming task
- of keeping up with e-mail from LISTSERV's, and also adds to
- the strain on computer and network resources. In most cases,
- if the message is of any interest I've already received it
- directly from the original LISTSERV."
- --------------------------------------
- I've found the forwarded postings very useful and relevant to
- EDTECH. Somehow, most of the forwarded postings are NOT repeats
- of postings I've already received from other lists. And when they
- are I delete them when I read the first screen -- a two second task
- that I am willing to put up with. The idea of summarizing rather
- than forwarding suggested by Robert Funnell does make more efficient
- use of computer and network resources, especially in the case of
- very long postings, but it uses more human resources, i.e., time and
- effort spent by the summarizer and time and effort spent by readers
- hunting down the original posting. For the most part, I appreciate
- receiving the original message. If only I could get rid of all those
- > marks in front of every line...
