- One of the difficulties in getting teachers into using
- computers is the cost factor. There seems to be some myth
- floating around that you must have a Mac or a IBM clone. There
- are thousands of Apples floating around in the schools just
- begging to be used. Some have been deserted in favor of more
- "up-to-date" equipment. There is plenty of good life left in
- those "old" machines. Even the Apple II can be connected to a
- modem and used to work the educational networks. So the answer
- may be to show the teachers how easy it is to get information
- from other teachers in their specialities via the networks. Oh
- yes, if there is one thing a teacher can never ignore it is
- something that is FREE, and most of the educational networks
- don't charge for their services.
-
- Just a hunch, but it might get some of them started, and once
- started, they may find many other uses for technology.
