- The Shrew that Bill referred to was of course the shrew, a small mouse-sized
- mammal (genus Sorex and relatives) with a frenetic lifestyle. The only way to
- tame these little beasties might be to withhold food and drink for short
- periods of time. The very high metabolic rate which shrews enjoy condemns them
- to an endless search for food and makes them sharper and more vicious than
- their size might suggest.
