  23. Child Quest recently interviewed law enforcement officers for an upcoming
  24. newspaper article.  Here are some of the questions asked and the answers
  25. given...

  27. QUESTION:  Who do you call when you wake up one morning and find that
  28. your child has been abducted by your spouse or ex-spouse?
  29.  
  30. Representatives  of the San Jose Police Department, the San Jose FBI, and
  31. the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office, all agreed that the
  32. first call you should make is 9-1-1 or your local police department if
  33. 9-1-1 is not available in your area.

  35. QUESTION:  What should a parent do if they suspect that their spouse or
  36. ex-spouse is planning to abduct their child/children?
  37.  
  38. A representative of the Santa Clara County District Attorney's office says,
  39. "Start keeping a log of information.  List all of the phone calls you have
  40. with the suspect parent including notes on what they say and where they go.
  41. Keep a sheet with the names and addresses, birthdays, and phone numbers
  42. of friends and relatives.  Make sure to keep current pictures of both the
  43. child and the suspect parent.  And, be sure to lock up the child's birth
  44. certificate and passport, if there is one.
