- I've already had a number of replies to my original posting, some from
- fellow Garbo suffers, one or two from Walnut Creek supporters.
-
- I guess my frustration at having to spend time working out /how/ to pull
- stuff from the CD did rather colour my reaction. Walnut Creek don't seem
- to be the rip-off artists I'd thought, but just PC people after a slice of
- the Mac market without Mac know-how.
-
- I still believe, though, that if someone is selling a product, they have
- responsibility for its correct operation. Not all purchasers will know
- enough to decode the data - I probably know as much as most Mac users,
- and it took me a while. It's irresponsible to claim "I just sell 'em",
- particularly in a market containing so many novices. If Bob takes my
- money, I expect him to give me a useable product, and he should expect
- complaints if he doesn't.
-
- All that was needed was a text file with 'how to decode' instructions,
- although an actual application to do it would have been nice. Sadly, with
- my copy at least, there was no printed material at all (not even an insert),
- while the Mac text file details on the CD are just plain wrong.
-
- Although I'm fortunate enuf to have ftp access, my bet would be that most
- purchasers of this CD wouldn't (which is why they'll buy it), and would
- therefore be even more baffled by the format.
-
- And I do urge a FAQ of reviews as a good idea, if some altruistic individual
- out there can be convinced they should take it on!
