- I've just obtained a Sony model CDU-100 cd-rom drive, part (as I understand)
- of the assets of a failed company. Unfortunately it only came with an interface
- cable (presumably whoever bought the computer at the auction got the interface
- card). It didn't cost a lot, so it's no big deal if it turns out to be either
- broken or useless, I would, however, like to get the thing running if possible.
- I've asked the local Sony agents about user manuals etc., but while they're
- trying to find things, I'd like to ask the following questions:
-
- 1. Are modern cd-roms compatible with this device?
-
- 2. What sort of interface does it require at the computer end? I originally
- thought it was SCSI, but it's got 40 pins instead of 50.
-
- 3. Is there a source of software drivers? If so, where?
-
- 4. Anything else I should know?
-
- The thing seems to run if I power it up, and the busy light comes on
- briefly when I insert an audio CD, so chances are that it works. I'd appreciate
- any replies.
-
- Thanks,
-
