This directory contains demonstration images from
Irlam Instruments. They are all contained within
separate ImageBank's. ImageBank is an application
that catalogues and compresses (using JPEG)
true-colour images. The ImageBank's supplied here are
read-only, the full version can be obtained from
Irlam Instruments at only £25 + VAT + P&P.
ImageBank supports interactive help and has a fairly
extensive !Help file. If you need help on use see the
file within the ImageBank directory.

BIP 400 Interface:
This expansion card allows the Epson A4 & Sharp
JX100 mini-flat bed scanners to be used with A300,
A400 & A3000 computers. It provides fast serial
and bi-directional Centronics ports for dedicated
connection to the scanners. It can also be
provided with software and examples to allow the
parallel port to be used as a general purpose
digital I/O card for control applications. Cost
£75.
ImageBank:
ImageBank stores and catalogues images using
industry standard JPEG compression. The package
has a 'filer-like' viewer showing thumbnail
versions of the pictures which allow any desired
image to be found rapidly. Textual information
about the compressed pictures may also be stored.
Directories are supported to allow the images to
be grouped logically. A built-in facility allows
the pictures to be displayed individually or in a
carousel sequence. Can also be used as a fast
JPEG viewer. Images can be exported in JPEG,
Clear and Sprites (including 256 Dithered, 256
Greyscale and True Colour versions). Cost £25.
Acorn Replay DIY Kit:
The Replay DIY kit includes an expansion card
which captures both full colour video and stereo
audio. Hardware on the expansion card reduces the
video and audio data rates to allow capture in
real-time so sophisticated or expensive video
equipment is not required. Ordinary domestic
VCRs, camcorders and videodiscs can be used.
Supplied complete with compression software to
allow Acorn Replay movies to be produced. This
product was developed in association with Acorn
Computers Limited. Cost £199.
SoundCard:
SoundCard allows high quality stereo samples to be
captured direct to disc at up to 48 KHz sample
rates on standard A5000 machines. It uses
state-of-the-art analog-to-digital converters
based upon delta-sigma technology. This allows a
wide range of sampling frequencies without having
to use external costly and complex anti-alias
filters. A powerful digital signal processor (DSP)
built into SoundCard can process the sampled audio
data in real-time. A 16 bit output from the card
allows samples to be played back via external
amplifiers and speakers. This gives a much higher
quality result than using the built-in sound
system. Cost £299.
24i16:
'24i16' combines a real-time 24 bit video
digitiser with a very high quality 16 bit audio
capture and playback system. This makes 24i16
suitable for a wide range of applications in
education, business and the home including
interactive multimedia, computer based training,
desktop publishing and capturing material for
CD-ROMs. 24i16 can capture full screen 24 bit
still images (up to 768 pixels x 576 lines with
1Mb Video RAM upgrade) in real-time and sample 16
bit stereo sound direct-to-disc together with
video. Existing Replay movies can be played back
via the 16 bit outputs for much improved sound
quality. Cost £349, for 1 Megabyte option add £50.
Moving I-Mage:
This unique video digitiser uses hardware to
update a window with video directly on the
desktop. Scaling and display is done by the card
so there is no processor overhead involved.
Because the video display bypasses the built-in
graphics, millions of colours can be displayed no
matter what screen mode the computer is in and
with real-time refresh. Very high quality stills
can be captured. SWI documentation is provided
together with examples to allow easy control of
the hardware from custom applications. Moving
i-Mage is currently used for Computer Based
Training, Teletext subtitling and Scientific
Research. Cost £989.
ADdsp:
This is a Multi-Channel Analogue Data Acquisition
card which can process data in real-time using an
on-board Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and sample
direct-to-disc. The card is flexible since all
analogue functions are located on a plug-in
module, the first of which is an 8-Channel 12 bit
ADC that can sample at up to 400KHz. Byte-wide
parallel input and output ports are provided to
allow external instrumentaion to be controlled.
The DSP can be used to off-load processor
intensive tasks such as Fast Fourier Transforms.
ADdsp is used for data logging and scientific
experiments. Examples and Documentation allow
simple use from your own programs written in
BASIC, C, Assembler etc. Cost of 333KHz version
£399, for 400KHz add £50.
Note: All prices exclude VAT and {ostage and Packing.
