  7.     Yee haa!  This tiff library is exactly what I was looking for.
  8.     Excellent job!  I really appreciate it when I find a quality product that
  9.     means I don't have to waste time reinventing the wheel.

  11.     The code in sgisv.c was very helpful in figuring out how to write
  12.     my 8-bit images in gray scale but how do I write out my own color maps. 
  13.     It is not apparent to me how to do this after looking through the list of
  14.     available routines in the library.

  16. tools/tiffmedian.c does it; check there.
