  12. INTRODUCTION
  13. ------------
  14. Shopping List Manager (SLM) will organize your supermarket 
  15. trips to get you in and out in the shortest time possible.
  16. SLM Version 3 is a mature Windows application that
  17. offers many convenient features not found in earlier versions
  18. of the program, or anywhere else.
  19.  
  20. SLM was created by a professional graphical user interface
  21. (GUI) consultant who hates wasting time going food shopping.
  22. This flexible and easy-to-use program will cut the time you
  23. spend in the supermarket in half.

  26. QUICK INSTALL
  27. -------------
  28. 1. Make sure VBRUN300.DLL exists in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM 
  29.    directory.
  30. 2. Run SETUP.EXE.
  31. 3. Re-start Windows (may not be neccessary).

  33.  
  34. INSTALLATION
  35. ------------
  36. SLM requires Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher to run. You need
  37. some familiarity with Windows to install this program. If you 
  38. don't feel that you can do it yourself, please find someone who
  39. can help you.
  40.  
  41. 1. Do you have VBRUN300.DLL?
  42.  
  43.    The file VBRUN300.DLL must be in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory
  44. in order to use SLM. Many Windows programs require this file so 
  45. you may already have it on your hard disk. If you don't, you must
  46. place a copy there.
  47.    If you received SLM on an original diskette, VBRUN300.DLL is 
  48. on the diskette in the subdirectory named VBRUN. Simply copy it 
  49. from that directory on the disk to WINDOWS\SYSTEM.
  50.    If you have access to CompuServe, you can find the file there:
  51. GO MSL and download VBRUN300.EXE. You can find it using its S 
  52. number: S14631. VBRUN300.EXE is a self-extracting archive.
  53.  
  54. 2. Copy the files
  55.  
  56.    To have the SLM files copied for you automatically, run 
  57. SETUP.EXE from Windows. This small program will ask you for the 
  58. name of a directory to create on your disk where SLM will be 
  59. located, and then it will copy the files there. A default name 
  60. (C:\SLM3) is provided.
  61.    VBRUN300.DLL must be in your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory before 
  62. SETUP.EXE will run (see step 1, above). 
  63.    It is strongly recommended that you use SETUP.EXE to perform 
  64. this step since it also performs step 3. However, if you want 
  65. to do this manually instead, create a directory on your hard 
  66. disk and copy all the SLM files except those ending in .VBX to
  67. that directory. Then, copy the two files ending in .VBX to
  68. your WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.
  69.  
  70. 3. Manually prepare SLM3.INI
  71.  
  72.    If you used SETUP.EXE in step 2 above, you can skip this 
  73. section entirely.
  74.    The file SLM3.INI is required by SLM and contains all of its 
  75. settings. This file must be copied to your WINDOWS directory.
  76.    In addition, you must modify a line in this file to tell SLM 
  77. where it should look for files (i.e. where it is installed). 
  78. The second line in the file must contain the full path of SLM's 
  79. installation directory. The default is C:\SLM3\.
  80.    Open this file with any text editor and make sure that the 
  81. second line in the file contains the correct installation path
  82. (i.e. the name of the directory you used in step 2 above). It
  83. is neccessary to include the final backslash \. (Without the 
  84. backslash, SLM will not start.)
  85.    SETUP.EXE performs this step for you, so it is advisable to 
  86. use that method instead of doing it manually (see step 2 above).

  88. 4. Create an icon for SLM (optional)
  89.  
  90.    You can run SLM by double-clicking on its name in File 
  91. Manager. However, it may be more convenient to create a program 
  92. item (an icon) for easily running the program.
  93.    Use Program Manager's File menu's New command to do this. 
  94. For more information about doing this, please refer to your 
  95. Microsoft Windows documentation or online help.

  97. 5. Re-start Windows
  98.    On some machines, this step is neccessary for SLM to find 
  99. all the files you copied to WINDOWS\SYSTEM. Exit Windows 
  100. completely and start it again by typing WIN.
  101.  
  102. That's all there is to it! Assuming all has gone well, you can 
  103. now run SLM. Please refer to the program's comprehensive online 
  104. Help for more information regarding this program. You can 
  105. access Help from the program by pressing F1 at any time or 
  106. selecting a choice from the main window's Help menu.

  123. IMPORTANT NOTICE
  124. ----------------
  125. SLM is shareware, it is not free. If after evaluating SLM you
  126. decide that you would like to own a copy of the program, please
  127. register it with the author.

  129. Registration entitles you to receive an original program disk, 
  130. technical support directly from the author, and notices of 
  131. future versions of the program.
  132.  
  133. The unregistered version of Shopping List Manager Version 3
  134. will only print up to 10 items of a shopping list. The registered
  135. version does not limit the number of items that may be printed on a
  136. shopping list.
