  24. Main Screen - Parameter Menu
  25. ----------------------------

  27. This section gives you control over 
  28. how a 3 voice MONO SID can be played.
  29.  
  30. You can select MONO playback.  The 
  31. song will only play in 3 voice MONO 
  32. and no STEREO parameters will be 
  33. used.  The rest of the controls in 
  34. the Parameter Menu will be ignored.

  37. Next is the STEREO playback mode.  
  38. This will allow you to assign to each 
  39. of the three voices the side you 
  40. would like them to play on and for 
  41. how long.
  42.  
  43. Each voice has its own mode selector.  
  44. I you would like to have Voice 1 play 
  45. as MONO you can.  Voice 1 will then 
  46. play on BOTH the right and the left 
  47. channels.  You could also have Voice 
  48. 2 and 3 play as STEREO.  The control 
  49. for selecting the mode is the 'F5' 
  50. key and to change the voice you are 
  51. working on press the 'F3' key.  If 
  52. you decide to have voice 2 and 3 as 
  53. STEREO, you can then select what side 
  54. you want each voice to start playing 
  55. on.  Just press the 'R' or 'L' key to 
  56. select either the RIGHT or LEFT side 
  57. for each voice.  The last control is 
  58. for the duration.  This will allow 
  59. you to move the voices from LEFT to 
  60. the RIGHT and vise-versa while the 
  61. song is playing.  You must use the 
  62. CURSOR keys to control this value.  
  63. This value can be anything from 0 to 
  64. 99.  If the value is 0 then the voice 
  65. will play ONLY on the side it started 
  66. on.  If it is any number over 0 then 
  67. the voice will move from side to 
  68. side.  An example would be if you set 
  69. Voice 1 to a duration of 1 then it 
  70. would play ONE note on the side it 
  71. started on (let's say the RIGHT) then 
  72. move to the LEFT for the next note 
  73. and back to the RIGHT for the next 
  74. one.  If you also set Voice 3 to 23 
  75. and the LEFT side then voice 3 would 
  76. play 23 notes on the LEFT side and 
  77. then play 23 notes on the RIGHT side 
  78. and then continue to move back and 
  79. forth every 23 notes.

  82. The third mode is a new one called 
  83. DELAY.  This will allow you to FOOL 
  84. the player into THINKING a 3 voice 
  85. SID is a TRUE 6 voice SID.
  86.  
  87. You may select a DELAY from 1 to 9.  
  88. This value is used to determine how 
  89. long the RIGHT side should be delayed 
  90. before it starts playing music.  This 
  91. is the same as using the EXPANDER 
  92. option on the main menus.  If a 3 
  93. voice SID is stamped with this delay 
  94. value it will override the EXPANDER 
  95. value on the main menu.  When the 
  96. delay is selected the MODE for each 
  97. voice changes to +/-.  This will 
  98. allow you to transpose each voice up 
  99. or down.  This functions the same as 
  100. inserting a TPS (transpose command) 
  101. in that voice.  The difference is 
  102. that it is always in effect and in 
  103. addition to any TPS command in the 
  104. SID.  Here is an example that is 
  105. similar to the Parameter Screen.

  115. This SID will have an EXPANDER value 
  116. of 4.

  118. Voice 1 will be transposed down 10 
  119. half-steps (l), while its RIGHT side 
  120. counterpart Voice 4 will not be 
  121. transposed.

  123. Voice 2 will not be transposed and 
  124. its counterpart Voice 5 will not be 
  125. transposed either (DUR of 00).

  127. Voice 3 will not be transposed and 
  128. its counterpart voice 6 will be 
  129. transposed UP 12 halfsteps (r).

  131. This is how the DELAY works and it 
  132. makes many of the old 3 voice SIDs 
  133. sound fantastic.  You will have to 
  134. experiment because each SID will be 
  135. different.

  137. You can STAMP each SID with the 
  138. values you have set.  This way each 
  139. and every time the SID is loaded into 
  140. SP V10 or above it will play in the 
  141. manner you have selected.  If you DO 
  142. NOT have the second SID chip then the 
  143. parameters will be ignored.  The 
  144. STAMPED SID can even be played on 
  145. other players without causing any 
  146. problems.
