  3.    DENIAL VIC-20 GAMES COLLECTION

  6. Jeff Daniels, founder of the Denial
  7. VIC-20 website, is releasing his
  8. Denial Collection 3, a group of 7
  9. games on tape (6 on disk) for the
  10. unexpanded VIC. To follow the

  17. My new project is finally done. I'll
  18. figure out the postage and start
  19. mailing them this weekend. It's a
  20. box set and requires a tape drive
  21. and joystick (no memory expansion).

  23. The box version contains seven
  24. modest games. A colour disk version
  25. with six games will also be
  26. available on request. I eventually
  27. plan to make the game programs that
  28. can be played without additional
  29. components available online in the
  30. future.

  32. The collection is a concept piece
  33. about dichotomies. Ten Ten, the only
  34. previously released game, is an
  35. example of the theme. I wanted to
  36. approach the collection as a
  37. musician would assemble an album
  38. (consider this my "Dark Side of the
  39. Moon"). I couldn't decide if I
  40. should tell all about the contents
  41. or let it be a surprise. A mystery
  42. box.

  44. I really want to recreate the
  45. experience of tape loaded games. I
  46. noticed that after waiting for a
  47. game to load, I'm more likely to
  48. explore its finer details; unlike
  49. the average 2.5 seconds I give to
  50. ROMs via emulation.

  52. Those of you with the first or
  53. second collection should know what
  54. to expect. "Basic games". A few
  55. other surprises are included this
  56. time.

  58. I'll have to get to the post office
  59. in find out how much postage will be
  60. first, but I estimate shipping to
  61. average US$5. The box is kind of
  62. heavy, so I should verify that first.

  64. I wanted to make it a winter gift
  65. for when you guys are all snowed in,
  66. but obviously, I can't make enough
  67. (or afford to ship) to all members.
