  17. J.Q.L. WEIGHTS  & MEASURES for  Windows (14.95 Sterling
  18. or 30.00 US Dollars)

  20. This is the first  program J.Q.L. released for Windows*
  21. on  1st  June  1993.  The  program  converts  weights &
  22. measures from one type  to another automatically and is
  23. simplicity itself to use.
  24.  
  25. Weights &  Measures 1.1 was reviewed  by PC Plus, issue
  26. 84,  September 1993,  who  said  of Weights  & Measures
  27. "..you'll  find  W&M  invaluable",  and  "..W&M  screen
  28. display   shows   all   the   units   for   each   mode
  29. simultaneously,  making  it  extremely  easy  to switch
  30. between   the  individual   measurement  systems."  and
  31. "..extremely  well crafted  and quite  useful". PC Plus
  32. gave Weights &  Measures a 4 out of  5 value rating and
  33. had nothing against the program.

  35. Transend, one of the major UK Shareware vendors said of
  36. Weights  & Measures  1.1 "..very  useful" and  "..it is
  37. certainly very easy to use".

  39. High praise indeed for a first program for Windows*.
  40.  
  41. Now  in version  2, it  is even  easier to  use, has  a
  42. completely context sensitive Help, more conversions, is
  43. even more  accurate than before  using, where possible,
  44. conversion factors  correct to a  minimum seven decimal
  45. points!, has 3D and colour which is configurable by the
  46. user,  the main  control is   a Tool  Bar which  can be
  47. placed anywhere on your screen, and uses very little of
  48. your  Systems resources  - only  10% when  every single
  49. window is displayed.

  132. Pools Plan,  works with the  new "Jackpot" system,  the
  133. ordinary  pools  and  with  the  Australian  pools.  It
  134. requires NO  tedious entering of  the results (as  some
  135. pools  systems require),  and is  simplicity itself  to
  136. use.  Pools Plan  predicts Score  Draws, Away  Wins and
  137. Home  Wins simultaneously  and gives  both rankings and
  138. percentage   chances  of   a  particular   result.  The
  139. percentages and  rankings can be printed  out or copied
  140. to the Windows* Clipboard.

  142. The Help file is context sensitive and there is a "Hint
  143. Line" to help you at the bottom of the window. The help
  144. file also has information on completing your coupon and
  145. how to use the information provided by the program.

  147. Pools  Plan was  released on  10th August  1993 and the
  148. reviews should be appearing in October/November.

  151. J.Q.L. HORSE  FORM LITE for WINDOWS  (14.95 Sterling or

  155. This  is a  small  Horse  Racing Predition  program for
  156. Windows 3.1 and better.
  157.  
  158. The  first time  this program   was used  on a  race it
  159. picked three out of the first four horses home. Not bad
  160. for a  first test so I  included that race in  the Help
  161. file as an example.
  162.  
  163. Horse Form Lite uses  the information published in most
  164. daily newspapers  to make its predictions,  so there is
  165. no  need to  buy a  specialist racing  paper to use it,
  166. unless of course you want to.

  168. There  is no  tedious entering  of the  results of each
  169. race, and Horse Form  Lite automatically keeps a record
  170. of the Horses' names you have entered - up to a maximum
  171. of 32676. Finding a Horse once it has been entered into
  172. the program is simplicity  itself, just enter the first
  173. two or  three letters of  the Horse's name  and it will
  174. usually be displayed on the screen for you to select.

  176. Horse  Form  Lite,  frequently  picks  the  winners and
  177. sometimes picks  the long- odds  winners which everyone
  178. has overlooked, it picks the  horse most likely to win,
  179. which isn't always the favourite!

  181. It has a context sensitive  Help File and hints for the
  182. information  it requires  which makes  it very  easy to
  183. use. It  also has user configurable  3D and Colour, and
  184. will  give you  a print  out of  the predictions  if so
  185. required.

  187. Horse Form Lite was released  on 15th November 1993 and
  188. reviews should be appearing in January/February 1994.

  193. What is the best  method of distributing information to
  194. ensure that every Windows User can read it? The Windows
  195. Help File.
  196.  
  197. The  Help  Files  are  not  only  useful as a reference
  198. files, they can be  used as Tutorials, Reports, Guides,
  199. Company Information,  Sales Manual, Product  Manual and
  200. many more uses where  structured information is used or
  201. needs to be distributed. The beauty of the Windows Help
  202. File is it doesn't require  a host program, all Windows
  203. Operating Systems have it  built in. The maximum amount
  204. of space  is available on  your distribution media  for
  205. the Help File and anyone with Windows* can read it.

  213. J.Q.L.  started  in  April  1993  to  provide  low cost
  214. professional   software  for   the  Windows*  operating
  215. environment. To  date, two software  packages have been
  216. released Weights  & Measures and  Pools Plan, and  five
  217. packages  are  under  development  - Chinese Horoscope,
  218. Horseform,  JQLFILE  (adds  more  functionality to File
  219. Manager),   Stock   Control   and   Sommilier  (a  wine
  220. information program).

  222. John Q.  Lavelle, the founder  of J.Q.L., trained  as a
  223. Systems Analyst during the  early '80s and has produced
  224. a variety  programs  for  various  computer systems and
  225. operating  environments  from  IBM  Mainframes to PC's.

  227. Control,  Club  Membership,  Sales  Lead File, Customer
  228. File, Pools Program, Stocks & Shares (uses the High Low
