  5. Overview
  6. --------
  7. SmartArc is a powerful tool for archiving and cataloging of files. Archives 
  8. will be stored on special initialized disks. All information for 
  9. administration, retrieval and reload of the files are stored in a database.
  10.  
  11. For each SmartArc-archive
  12.     - a searchable, user defined archive name
  13.     - a text of maximally 64 KByte for explanation of the archive
  14.     - any number of keywords, for retrieval purposes
  15.     - the volume-name of the disk which is used for storing the archive
  16. will be stored
  17.  
  18. For each file of a SmartArc-archive
  19.     - the DOS-filename
  20.     - the DOS path when archiving takes place
  21.     - the original file-size and size of the comprimized file
  22.     - date and time of archiving and last file modification
  23.     - any comment for file explanation
  24.     - any number of keywords, for retrieval purposes
  25. will be stored

  27. SmartArc supports following functions:
  28.     - Creating archives
  29.     - Adding files to archives
  30.     - Deleting files from archives
  31.     - Deleting archives
  32.     - Reload of archives
  33.     - Reload of files
  34.     - Import of ZIP-files
  35.     - Export of ZIP-files

  37. Search for archives or files can be done
  38.     - by archivename
  39.     - by keyword

  41. SmartArc supports English and German user interface.

  46. Windows 3.x, Windows 95, about 5 Mbyte disk space

  50. Please run:    Install.exe

  54. SmartArc uses MS Access 1.1 as database. If you have MS Access you c a n
  55. open the SmartArc database, but do  n o t  change any of the data, the
  56. database could get inconsistent with the program!
  57. If you have MS Access 2.0 do  n o t  convert the database, the 
  58. SmartArc database will get corrupted!
