  5. INTRODUCTION
  6.  
  7.      Thank you for trying SizeWise--the utility that answers
  8. the burning question: "Where did all my hard disk space
  9. go!".
  10.  
  11.      Using a scrollable list, bar charts, and pie charts,
  12. SizeWise quickly summarizes the total amount of space being
  13. consumed by each directory (including nested subdirectories)
  14. within the current directory.  It arms you with the
  15. information you need to make intelligent decisions about
  16. deleting, archiving, and backing up files.  See the
  17. Operating Instructions for more information on using the
  18. various windows. SizeWise includes these advanced features:
  19.  
  20. 1)   Colored Bar and Pie charts.
  21. 2)   Independent resizable windows.
  22. 3)   Directory and file view.
  23. 4)   Item inspector that provides detailed directory/file
  24.      information.
  25. 5)   File launching for easy inspection.
  26. 6)   Quick file viewer with TEXT and HEX view.

  28.      This is a trial version of SizeWise. As such, you are
  29. allowed to evaluate this product for 30 days.  After that
  30. time, you are required to pay a registration fee if you
  31. choose to continue using this product.

  33. NO-NONSENSE INSTALLATION  INSTRUCTIONS
  34.  
  35.      To install SizeWise for, you simply create a new
  36. directory, copy the contents of this zip file to this new
  37. directory, and setup a convenient way to launch SizeWise.
  38. Detailed instructions are as follows:
  39.  
  40. 1) Create a new directory
  41.  
  42. SizeWise needs to be installed in its own directory;
  43. therefore, you need to decide on an appropriate directory
  44. name and create it using DOS's "Mkdir" command or File
  45. Manager.  The directory name "SizeWise" is recommended.
  46.  
  47. 2) Copy files to a new directory
  48.  
  49. Copy all files contained in the SizeWise ZIP file that you
  50. just unpacked to the new directory that you created in step
  51. 1 above.  You can do this using DOS's "Copy" command,
  52. "Xcopy" command, or File Manager.
  53.  
  54. 3) Setup a convenient way to launch SizeWise
  55.  
  56. SizeWize can be conveniently launched in one of two ways.
  57. You can either run SizeWise directly from a File Manager
  58. window that is opened within the new directory created in
  59. step 1 above.  Or you can create a program icon in the
  60. Windows Program Manager and run SizeWise by double-clicking
  61. the icon.
  62.  
  63. To run from File Manager, simply open a window within the
  64. new directory created in step 1 above, find the program
  65. "sizewise.exe", and double-click it using your mouse's left
  66. mouse button.  If you choose to run SizeWise from File
  67. Manager, you will have to repeat these steps each time you
  68. choose to launch SizeWise.

  70. To setup SizeWise as an icon within Program Manager, you
  71. will need to create a new program item within an existing
  72. program group or a new program group.  The command line
  73. should contain the FULL PATH AND NAME for "sizewise.exe"--
  74. where ever you copied the files to in step 1 above.  You can
  75. set the working directory to any directory that you want
  76. SizeWise to display by default.  For this reason, you may
  77. find it helpful to create several program manger icons to
  78. launch SizeWise from, each having a different default
  79. directory.  This will save you the time of having SizeWise
  80. scan "C:\" if you are really only interested in looking at
  81. "D:\".  To have a convenient launch icon for each, simply
  82. create two identical program manager icons--one with the
  83. working directory set to "C:\" and another with the working
  84. directory set to "D:\".

  88.      This is an evaluation copy of a copyrighted program.
  89. You are granted the limited right to use this version of
  90. SizeWise for EVALUATION purposes only.  If you like this
  91. program and choose to use it on a regular basis, you are
  92. required to purchase a registered copy.  For information on
  93. registration, please refer to the on-line help by hitting
  94. [F1] from any SizeWise screen.

  97. would have a useful tool for his own purposes.  His
  98. development time was literally QUADRUPLED in order to clean
  99. this program up and make it useful for the general public.
