SIZEWISE 1.3 BY KEN BORSARE INTRODUCTION Thank you for trying SizeWise--the utility that answers the burning question: "Where did all my hard disk space go!". Using a scrollable list, bar charts, and pie charts, SizeWise quickly summarizes the total amount of space being consumed by each directory (including nested subdirectories) within the current directory. It arms you with the information you need to make intelligent decisions about deleting, archiving, and backing up files. See the Operating Instructions for more information on using the various windows. SizeWise includes these advanced features: 1) Colored Bar and Pie charts. 2) Independent resizable windows. 3) Directory and file view. 4) Item inspector that provides detailed directory/file information. 5) File launching for easy inspection. 6) Quick file viewer with TEXT and HEX view. This is a trial version of SizeWise. As such, you are allowed to evaluate this product for 30 days. After that time, you are required to pay a registration fee if you choose to continue using this product. NO-NONSENSE INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS To install SizeWise for, you simply create a new directory, copy the contents of this zip file to this new directory, and setup a convenient way to launch SizeWise. Detailed instructions are as follows: 1) Create a new directory SizeWise needs to be installed in its own directory; therefore, you need to decide on an appropriate directory name and create it using DOS's "Mkdir" command or File Manager. The directory name "SizeWise" is recommended. 2) Copy files to a new directory Copy all files contained in the SizeWise ZIP file that you just unpacked to the new directory that you created in step 1 above. You can do this using DOS's "Copy" command, "Xcopy" command, or File Manager. 3) Setup a convenient way to launch SizeWise SizeWize can be conveniently launched in one of two ways. You can either run SizeWise directly from a File Manager window that is opened within the new directory created in step 1 above. Or you can create a program icon in the Windows Program Manager and run SizeWise by double-clicking the icon. To run from File Manager, simply open a window within the new directory created in step 1 above, find the program "sizewise.exe", and double-click it using your mouse's left mouse button. If you choose to run SizeWise from File Manager, you will have to repeat these steps each time you choose to launch SizeWise. To setup SizeWise as an icon within Program Manager, you will need to create a new program item within an existing program group or a new program group. The command line should contain the FULL PATH AND NAME for "sizewise.exe"-- where ever you copied the files to in step 1 above. You can set the working directory to any directory that you want SizeWise to display by default. For this reason, you may find it helpful to create several program manger icons to launch SizeWise from, each having a different default directory. This will save you the time of having SizeWise scan "C:\" if you are really only interested in looking at "D:\". To have a convenient launch icon for each, simply create two identical program manager icons--one with the working directory set to "C:\" and another with the working directory set to "D:\".
