  9.     What is HFDE/h?
  10.     ───────────────

  12.     HFDE/h is a full featured PWAD editor for id Software's HERETIC based
  13.     on DEU 5.1-5.2 by Ralphael Quinet and Brendon J. Wyber.  Basicly I took
  14.     DEU 5.2, and hacked it; giving it a brand new interface, some new
  15.     features, and of course support of heretic.

  17.     Since DEU is the most powerfull editor available, I picked it to work
  18.     with.  Originally HFDE (the DOOM registered version) was designed for
  19.     my own use, hence the interface is how I like it.

  23.     Why a Public Beta?
  24.     ──────────────────

  26.     Two reasons.  First, you the public needed a GOOD Heretic editor, and
  27.     this one is the best.  Second, it's the best way to test something this
  28.     huge.  But WARNING:  It's still a beta.  This means there are sure to
  29.     be bugs, mistakes, spelling errors, etc.

  31.     It also means that some stuff isn't in yet (the full revision tracking
  32.     stuff comes to mind) so it might be a good idea to backup frequently.

  35.     Using HFDEh
  36.     ───────────

  38.     For the most part, it's just like DEU (in fact, if you press ENTER with
  39.     an object selected, you go to the DEU menu structure).  Several new
  40.     features are:

  42.     REVISION TRACKING:  When turned on in the .INI file, HFDEH will
  43.     automatcily keep backup copies of your PWAD.  This makes recovery from
  44.     mistakes very simple.

  46.     STAIRS FROM SECTORS COMMAND:  You can quickly create stairs just by
  47.     drawing some sectors, and then chaining the together.  Remember, when
  48.     selecting the sectors, start at the top of the stairs and work DOWN.

  50.     NEW INTERFACE:  Press F1 to see how it works.  I think you will like
  51.     the changes.

  53.     AUTO SPLIT SECTOR:  When you create a linedef that splits a sector,
  54.     HFDEH will automaticly split that sector.

  56.     BETTER SUPPORT FOR SECTORS INSIDE A SECTOR:  With the previous versions
  57.     of the editor engine (HFDE, HFDE2) it had problems when working with
  58.     sectors inside a sector.  I think I got them all fixed.
