  21. This guide contains the information you need to install our
  22. Windows 95 drivers and tools for your Hercules product.

  26. This driver version requires DirectX 6 for proper operation! Please install
  27. DirectX 6 before using this release. If you are installing this driver release
  28. from the Hercules driver CD, DirectX 6 will automatically be installed with the
  29. Typical installation option. If you downloaded this software release, you may
  30. obtain DirectX 6 from Microsoft's web site at

  37. If You're Updating From An Earlier Release
  38. ==========================================
  39.  
  40. If you already have an earlier version of our Power Drive<tm>
  41. Windows 95 driver installed, you should run the UnInstall
  42. program located in the Hercules PowerTools program group
  43. before continuing.  Doing this removes the previous release
  44. of software from your hard drive, as well as all old
  45. references to the drivers and utilities in your configuration
  46. files.  The UnInstall program will also change your display
  47. driver back to the standard VGA driver.  After running the
  48. UnInstall program, restart your computer.

  51. Installation
  52. ============
  53.  
  54. To install this release, double-click the self-extracting installation program.
  55. It will automatically decompress the driver and utility files and start the
  56. installation process for you. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the drivers
  57. and/or utilities. When prompted, restart your computer to complete installation.

  60. What's New In This Release
  61. ==========================
  62.  
  63. 1. Random flashing polygons in some Direct3D games and applications such as
  64.    BattleZone, 3D Winbench 98 and others have been eliminated.
  65.  
  66. 2. Tiling problems have been fixed; for example the Windows 98(high color)
  67.    screen saver now displays correctly when stretched fullscreen, the menus
  68.    in MotoCross Madness now display properly, and other games and applications
  69.    that exhibited display anomalies should be improved by this fix.
  70.  
  71. 3. Trees are now displayed properly in the Need for Speed 3 (Corvette) demo.
  72.  
  73. 4. Intel IBASES 1.7 AGP Texturing Test no longer hangs on VIA MVP3 systems
  74.    when zooming in or out.
  75.  
  76. 5. Fixed fog appearing too close to the player in Shogo and Motocross Madness.
  77.  
  78. 6. Fixed flashing on Tomb Raider 2 option screens.
  79.  
  80. 7. Icons in Gamespy toolbar are no longer corrupt.

  82. 8. Nokia monitor test now displays correctly at 1024x768x16bpp.

  84. 9. Intro videos on BattleZone and Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 are no longer
  85.    played compressed at the top of the screen.

  88. Known Limitations
  89. =================
  90.  
  91. 1. Some polygon flashing still evident in certain D3D applications; i.e. 3DMark 99.
  92.  
  93. 2. Pressing Alt-Tab multiple times while running Quake 2 or GLQuake may
  94.    cause a crash.
  95.  
  96. 3. G-Police main menu may smear after returning from gameplay. To avoid this problem,
  97.    disable anti-aliasing in the G-Police graphics options screen.
  98.  
  99. 4. Results in the Final Reality Bus Transfer tests are lower than other AGP cards.
  100.    This is due to the tiling scheme the Savage 3D chip employs when writing to the
  101.    frame buffer and is expected behavior. 
  102.  
  103. 5. Video on Flight Unlimited 2 opening screen is corrupt. This is due to an issue
  104.    with Active Movie.
  105.  
  106. 6. In order to use 100Hz and 120Hz refresh rates in Windows 9x, you must install
  107.    Terminator BEAST BIOS version K3D or later. The latest BIOS may be downloaded
  108.    from http://www.hercules.com/support/drivers/term/tbeast/.
