  6. I.  Introduction
  7. ================
  8. In Windows 95 version OSR2.0 or earlier, some devices from the Intel 430TX, 
  9. 440LX or AMD-640 chipsets mainboards cannot be correctly recognised and the 
  10. drivers for these devices were not included too.  So after installation of 
  11. the Windows 95, there will always be a QUESTION MARK next to these 
  12. unrecognised devices.  Indicating that the the driver is not installed or 
  13. the device is not working properly.  Unrecognised devices are:

  15. Intel 430TX, 440LX/EX, 440BX chipsets:
  16.    82439TX, 82443LX/EX, 82443BX Host to PCI Bridge
  17.    82371xB Power Management Controller
  18.    82371xB PCI to ISA Bridge
  19.    (Optional) 82371xB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
  20.  
  21. VIA / AMD-640 chipsets:
  22.    VIA VPX97 Host to PCI Bridge
  23.    VIA VP3 Host to PCI Bridge 
  24.    PCI to ISA Bridge
  25.    AMD-645 Host to PCI Bridge
  26.    Power Management Controller  
  27.    (Optional) PCI to USB Universal Host Controller

  29. The problem is that Windows 95 OSR2.0 or earlier version, were released 
  30. before the 430TX, 440LX and 640 chipsets hit the market.  So these earlier 
  31. version of the OS, do not have the correct drivers information build-in.
  32.  
  33. In order to resolve this problem, we are offering this patch program, to 
  34. allow Windows 95 to correctly detect the devices.  After installing this 
  35. program, you will find that both of these devices show they are working 
  36. properly.

  38. *** Note:  Windows 98 does not need to patch.

  40. II. Files
  41. =================
  42. The files are:
  43.  
  44. --  README.TXT   - This ReadMe file.
  45. --  PATCH.EXE    - This Program file
  46.  
  47. III. Installation
  48. =================
  49.    Step 1.) Explore the PATCH.EXE.
  50.    Step 2.) Run PATCH.EXE in Windows 95 environment.
  51.    Step 3.) You can set the check-box in the middle to determine patch 
  52.             implementation for USB is included or not. (Default is checked)
  53.    Step 4.) Select 'Run Patch' to implement patch. 
  54.    Step 5.) Windows 95 will display messages as patch finished, Press 'OK' 
  55.             button to reboot.
  56.    Step 6.) When Windows 95 restarted, it will display messages that it had
  57.             detected various new hardware components in the system, and
  58.             proceed with its own installation procedure.  Finally when 
  59.             Windows 95 complete its bootup procedure, check the Device 
  60.             Manager again on System of Control Panel.  You will see that 
  61.             all devices show it is working normally.
