ReadMe File for the Shuttle Mainboard Patch Program (Windows 95) Version 2.0a May 13, 1998 I. Introduction ================ In Windows 95 version OSR2.0 or earlier, some devices from the Intel 430TX, 440LX or AMD-640 chipsets mainboards cannot be correctly recognised and the drivers for these devices were not included too. So after installation of the Windows 95, there will always be a QUESTION MARK next to these unrecognised devices. Indicating that the the driver is not installed or the device is not working properly. Unrecognised devices are: Intel 430TX, 440LX/EX, 440BX chipsets: 82439TX, 82443LX/EX, 82443BX Host to PCI Bridge 82371xB Power Management Controller 82371xB PCI to ISA Bridge (Optional) 82371xB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller VIA / AMD-640 chipsets: VIA VPX97 Host to PCI Bridge VIA VP3 Host to PCI Bridge PCI to ISA Bridge AMD-645 Host to PCI Bridge Power Management Controller (Optional) PCI to USB Universal Host Controller The problem is that Windows 95 OSR2.0 or earlier version, were released before the 430TX, 440LX and 640 chipsets hit the market. So these earlier version of the OS, do not have the correct drivers information build-in. In order to resolve this problem, we are offering this patch program, to allow Windows 95 to correctly detect the devices. After installing this program, you will find that both of these devices show they are working properly. *** Note: Windows 98 does not need to patch. II.
