Instructions for creating 3.5" OS/2 for Windows Service Pack Diskettes
from the files downloaded from the IBM PCC BBS
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
If you have received all of the files correctly from the BBS, you should
have 18 files with an ARJ extension, as well as a file called ARJ.EXE,
and another called LDF.COM. All the files should be on your hard disk.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
First, the ARJ files all need to be extracted into DSK files. If you
have enough room on your hard drive (approximately 30MB free), you can
extract the ARJ files all at the same time by typing the following:
ARJ E *.ARJ
If you do not have enough room on your hard disk to extract the ARJ
files all at the same time, you will need to extract them one at a time,
by typing the following:
ARJ E FILENAME.ARJ
where FILENAME.ARJ is the name of the file you want to extract. Then,
once the ARJ file has been successfully extracted into a DSK file, the
ARJ file can be deleted to save disk space. Simply repeat this process
for each ARJ file.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
You should now have 18 files with a DSK extension (35DISK1 through
35DISK12, 35DISP1 through 35DISP3, and 35PMDD1 through 35PMDD3).
You should also have a file called LDF.COM. If you do not have it, it is
because you said 'NO' to the question "Do you want the diskette imaging
software?" If you do not have LDF.COM, you will need to call the BBS
and download it.
────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
In order to create the diskettes from the DSK files, you will first need
to extract the file LDF.COM by running it. Simply type LDF and press the
ENTER key to run it. You should then see the file LOADDSKF.EXE. This is
the file that will be used to create all the Service Pack diskettes.
To extract the first DSK file using LOADDSKF.EXE, type the following:
LOADDSKF 35DISK1.DSK A:
where A: is your 3.5" diskette drive. You should have a HD (high density)
diskette in drive A: before typing the above line.
Once you have extracted the DSK file to the diskette, label the diskette
appropriately.
Repeat this process for each DSK file. You should then have the complete
OS/2 2.1 Service Pack on 18 3.5" diskettes.
