  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. A SYSxxxx error or trap screen appears when selecting the Lockup option 
  16. from the Desktop menu, or when trying to access Lockup Settings. The 
  17. Lockup error happens again when the system is shut down and restarted.
  18.  
  19. RESOLUTION
  20.  
  21. 1. Start the system with the OS/2 Installation Diskette.
  22.  
  23. 2. When prompted, remove Installation Diskette and insert Diskette 1.
  24.  
  25. 3. Press Esc to display the OS/2 command prompt.
  26.  
  27. 4. Insert Diskette 2.
  28.  
  29. 5. Type one of the following and press Enter:
  30.  
  31.    * For FAT system: CHKDSK C: /F
  32.    * For HPFS:       CHKDSK C: /F:2
  33.  
  34. 6. Run CHKDSK until no errors are reported.
  35.  
  36. 7. Change directories to the OS2 subdirectory on the drive where OS/2
  37.    is installed.
  38.  
  39. 8. Type MAKEINI OS2.INI LOCK.RC.
  40.  
  41. 9. Remove the diskette from drive A; then restart the system.
  42.  
  43. Performing MAKEINI against the OS2.INI file using LOCK.RC, removes ALL 
  44. information about the Lockup option from the INI file, including the 
  45. password and bit map for lockup. This removes any possibly bad data in 
  46. that area of the INI.
