  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. When a WIN-OS/2 Window session in SVGA is opened on a system that has 
  16. the Western Digital 90C33 video chip set, the system locks up. The 
  17. system cannot be restarted with Ctrl+Alt+Del; it must be turned off and
  18. then turned back on. In addition, a memory dump cannot be made.
  19.  
  20. Note: The problem could not be re-created with any of the Western
  21.       Digital 90C33 video adapters supported by OS/2 Warp, but was
  22.       re-created with many OEM adapters that had the WD90C33 chip
  23.       set. These adapters apparently cannot handle the accelerated
  24.       drivers under OS/2 Warp. The problem also was seen in Gateway
  25.       2000 systems that have the WD90C33 Rocket video adapter.

  28. RESOLUTION
  29.  
  30. 1. Using Selective Install, reset video to VGA.
  31.  
  32.    Note: You also can press Alt+F1 and then V.
  33.  
  34. 2. In Selective Install, click on Primary Display; then select Western
  35.    Digital 90C11, C30, C31 (C30 mode only).

  37. 3. Select OK and then OK again.
  38.  
  39. 4. Select Default when prompted to choose Monitor Utility or Default.
  40.  
  41. 5. When prompted to select a resolution, select one with 1 MB of video
  42.    memory.
  43.  
  44. 6. Complete the installation; then shut down and restart the system.
  45.  
  46. The WIN-OS/2 sessions now will work.
  47.  
  48. Note: The use of these drivers might result in a slower video
  49.       repaint.
