  11. DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. Selective Install or DSPINSTL for SVGA fails. OS/2 does not properly 
  14. identify the chip set.
  15.  
  16. RESOLUTION
  17.  
  18. 1. Download the latest S3-16M.DSK file from the IBM PCC BBS
  19.    (919-517-0001). It also is available from CompuServe and the
  20.    Internet.
  21.  
  22. 2. Follow the instructions in the README file and run S3INST.
  23.  
  24. 3. Shut down and then restart the system.
  25.  
  26. 4. Run DSPINSTL. Refer to the OS/2 documentation.
  27.  
  28. OS/2 should identify the chip set as a Cirrus Logic 5428.
  29.  
  30. Note:  Do not change the chip-set selection to S3. You are not using
  31.        the S3 drivers; only the patch provided by the package. THIS
  32.        DOES NOT APPLY TO XR06200 CODE AND ABOVE.

  34. If you are downloading from the IBM BBS, get LDF.COM and do the 
  35. following:
  36.  
  37. 1. At an OS/2 command prompt, type LDF.COM S3-16M.DSK and press Enter.
  38.  
  39. 2. Insert a formatted, high-density diskette in drive A; then type
  40.    LOADDSKF S3-16M.DSK A: and press Enter.
  41.  
  42. 3. Follow the instructions in the README file and run S3INSTL.
  43.  
  44. 4. Shut down and then restart the system.
  45.  
  46. 5. Run DSPINSTL. Refer to the OS/2 documentation.
  47.  
  48. The Cirrus Logic chip should now be identified, not S3.
