Dell Latitude Makes Repeating Sounds While Using Replicator
======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
A Dell Latitude XPI P100 laptop computer using a replicator port makes
repeated sounds when any sound is activated. For example, if you open a
window, the .wav file assigned to opening windows will play repeatedly,
until you perform another activity; then that sound will play
repeatedly.
RESOLUTION
Change the IRQ settings for the sound card from 10 to 5 (or 7). Then
edit the CONFIG.SYS file to reflect the change.
Following is an example of the CONFIG.SYS statement before and after
the necessary modification:
Before:
DEVICE = C:\MMOS2\ES688DD.SYS IB220/D1 /I10 /N:ES6881$
After:
DEVICE = C:\MMOS2\ES688DD.SYS IB220/D1 /I7 /N:ES6881$
