  13. DESCRIPTION
  14.  
  15. When using the IBM Internet Dialer (DIALER.EXE) for OS/2 to make a SLIP 
  16. connection to Advantis, the dialer sometimes aborts with the message 
  17. "SLIP Ended Unexpectedly." The connection terminates at this point.
  18.  
  19. RESOLUTION
  20.  
  21. This error occurs if the IBM TCP/IP protocol is not added in the 
  22. system's Multi-Protocol Transport Services (MPTS). To verify that the 
  23. protocol is added:
  24.  
  25. 1. Open MPTS by double-clicking on the MPTS icon, or by opening an OS/2
  26.    Window and typing MPTS at the command prompt.
  27.  
  28. 2. Choose Configure in the Multi-Protocol Transport Services window.
  29.  
  30. 3. Select LAN Adapters and Protocols, then Configure.
  31.  
  32. 4. In the Current Configuration section of the LAPS Configuration
  33.    window, look for the IBM TCP/IP protocol. For example:
  34.  
  35.    IBM Compatible Token-Ring Network Adapter (IBMTOK.OS).....
  36.       0 - IBM OS/2 NETBIOS
  37.       0 - IBM TCP/IP
  38.  
  39.    indicates an IBM Token-Ring adapter with both the NETBIOS and TCP/IP
  40.    protocols added. If the IBM TCP/IP protocol is not listed in this
  41.    section, add it, by selecting IBM TCP/IP from the Protocols list in
  42.    the upper right-hand section of the window and choosing Add.

  44.    Note: If you have more than one adapter, it does not matter which
  45.           adapter you add the IBM TCP/IP protocol to.

  47. 5. Once the change has been made, shutdown and restart the system;
  48.    then try your Internet connection again.
