  11. DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. During installation, the system locks up at Diskette 1, with both
  14. SCSI-drive and diskette-drive lights on. The problem occurs on systems 
  15. that come with the 1 GB HP SCSI drive. The installation process expects
  16. either an IBM SCSI or IDE drive.
  17.  
  18. HP Vectra XU 5/90C comes with pre-installed Windows for Workgroups,
  19. MS DOS, LAN drivers, and more.
  20.  
  21. RESOLUTION
  22.  
  23. Note: Make sure you have a backup of any file you intend to change.
  24.  
  25. 1. Do a DISKCOPY of Diskette 1.
  26.  
  27. 2. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file on Diskette 1 and add:
  28.  
  29.       BASEDEV=AMSIO2.ADD
  30.  
  31. The AMSIO2.ADD file is in a pre-installed directory, or can be taken 
  32. from the Master diskette, SCSI Drv A.01.01, dated 6/30/94.
  33.  
  34. Use HP Utilities to create all Master diskettes.
  35.  
  36. On the Master diskette, change to the \OS2 subdirectory. The 
  37. subdirectory has the README.TXT file along with AMSIO2.ADD. The README 
  38. file states:

  40.    AMD PCSCSI PCI OS/2 Adapter Device Driver Version 1.00,
  41.    (C) Copyright 1992-1994 by Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. and
  42.    Sequoia Advanced Technologies, Inc. - All Rights Reserved.

  44.    Filename: AMSIO2.ADD
  45.    Date:     June 2, 1994
  46.    Filesize: 21,894 Bytes

  48. Installing OS/2 from CD-ROM or from Diskettes
  49. ---------------------------------------------
  50. Note: This installation is done after re-partitioning the SCSI drive,
  51.       which erases all pre-installed software. Make sure to back up the
  52.       pre-installed code.
  53.  
  54. 1. Copy AMSIO2.ADD to the COPY of Diskette 1.
  55.  
  56. 2. Edit the CONFIG.SYS file and add BASEDEV=AMSIO2.ADD.
  57.  
  58. 3. Save and exit the file.
  59.  
  60. 4. Insert the Installation Diskette and restart the system.
  61.  
  62. 5. When prompted, remove the Installation Diskette and insert the
  63.    modified Diskette 1. This gets past the problem described in the
  64.    symptoms.
  65.  
  66. 6. Continue the installation through Diskette 6.
  67.  
  68. 7. Insert the Installation Diskette.
  69.  
  70. 8. When the files are copied from the Installation Diskette, insert the
  71.    original Diskette 1.
  72.  
  73.    The Installation program copies IBM2SCSI.ADD, which you removed from
  74.    the duplicate Diskette 1, to make room for the AMSIO2.ADD file. If
  75.    the Installation program cannot find it, you cannot continue with
  76.    installation. Contact the vendor for assistance in getting the
  77.    driver.
