OSINTPD2 - UNABLE TO RECOGNIZE CD-ROM CONNECTED TO SCSI CONTROLLER IN
DOCK2
10/24/96
=======================================================================
Unable to Recognize CD-ROM Connected to SCSI Controller in Dock2
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
The installation of OS/2 Warp 4 on a ThinkPad 760el in a Docking
Station II stops at Diskette 2, with an error message: Unable to find
OS2CDROM.DMD.
The default for the Adaptec SCSI adapter in the Docking Station is IRQ
11. This IRQ conflicts with the PCI IRQ 11 on the ThinkPad and makes
the CD-ROM unusable.
RESOLUTION
This error is caused by a hardware conflict. It can be resolved by
disabling the PCI IRQ 11 in the ThinkPad CMOS, or by assigning IRQ9, or
any free IRQ, to the SCSI adapter in the docking station, using the
Docking Station II setup program (Ctrl-A).
For further assistance with this hardware conflict, contact the PC
Company at 1-800-772-2227.
