=======================================================================
Cannot Access Plextor 4Plex CD-ROM Drive Connected to an
Adaptec 1542C--OS/2 Warp
=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
After installation of OS/2 Warp 3.0 from a CD-ROM, the system does not
recognize the Plextor CD-ROM drive connected to an Adaptec 1542C
adapter. An AWE sound card also is installed.
The following error message is received:
Please insert CD-ROM.
OS/2 Warp is still looking for a CD-ROM on the sound card.
RESOLUTION
The Adaptec 1542C adapter is using DMA 5, and the default setting for
the AWE32 sound card also is DMA 5. Change to different DMA setting.
On the AWE32 sound card, disable the CD-ROM option; then pull the
Interrupt pin off. This usually is set for Interrupt 9, 10, or 11. When
the pin is removed, OS/2 Warp will recognize the Plextor CD-ROM drive.
