  12. DESCRIPTION
  13.  
  14. When DOS from Drive A: is selected, it goes to a DOS Full Screen 
  15. session, starts DOS, and then fails.

  19. DOS Versions That Fail:  
  20. -----------------------
  21. * MS DOS 6.2
  22. * MS DOS 6.0
  23. * PC DOS 6.1
  24.  
  25. DOS Versions That Work:

  27. * PC DOS 6.3
  28. * IBM DOS 4.0
  29. * Novell DOS 7.0

  31. When MS 6.2 and MS 6.0 Fail:
  32. ----------------------------
  33. * The screen states "Starting MS-DOS" with a flashing cursor on the
  34.    next line.
  35.  
  36. * The Drive A light stays on.
  37.  
  38. * Ctrl+Esc does not work.
  39.  
  40. * Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work.
  41.  
  42. * You must turn power off and restart.
  43.  
  44. * Once restarted, the Desktop displays the following window:

  46.      System Error-DOS from Drive A:
  47.      SYS0039  The A: device is not ready
  48.      Options
  49.      End Program/command/operation
  50.      Retry command or operation
  51.          OK          HELP

  53. The DOS version is NOT the problem. The problem is DEVICE=A:\HIMEM.SYS 
  54. in the CONFIG.SYS file. These versions will not work in OS/2 Warp 3.0 
  55. with this device statement in the CONFIG.SYS file.

  57. The HIMEM.SYS statement does not cause all systems to fail to start 
  58. from drive A.
