  11. DESCRIPTION
  12.  
  13. During installation from CD-ROM on an IBM Model 9553, the following 
  14. errors might occur if the CD-ROM installation procedures are not 
  15. followed:
  16.  
  17. * Internal processing error (IPE)
  18. * System lockup
  19. * TRAP0008 or TRAP000E
  20.  
  21. RESOLUTION
  22.  
  23. To correctly install OS/2 2.1 on a Model 9553:
  24.  
  25. 1. Make a backup copy of the OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette. Label the
  26.    new diskette, "New OS/2 2.1 Installation Diskette - PS/2 9553
  27.    486SLC2 Only."
  28.  
  29. 2. Copy the ABIOS.SYS file and all files with a *.BIO extension from
  30.    the PS/2 9553 486SLC2 Reference Diskette to the New Installation
  31.    Diskette.
  32.  
  33.    Note: If the New Installation Diskette does not have enough
  34.          room for the new *.BIO files, erase the old *.BIO files
  35.          and the ABIOS.SYS file from the diskette.
  36.  
  37. 3. Install OS/2 using the CD-ROM and the New Installation Diskette.
  38.  
  39. 4. Continue installation from the CD-ROM, following the prompts on the
  40.    screen.
  41.  
  42. 5. When installation is complete, turn off the system.
  43.  
  44. 6. Insert the New Installation Diskette in drive A; then turn on the
  45.    system.
  46.  
  47. 7. Follow the instructions until the "Welcome to OS/2" screen appears;
  48.    then press Esc to go to an OS/2 command prompt.
  49.  
  50. 8. Copy the ABIOS.SYS file and all files with a *.BIO extension from
  51.    the diskette in drive A to the subdirectory where OS/2 is being
  52.    installed.
  53.  
  54. 9. Restart the system from the hard disk and complete the OS/2
  55.    installation.
