=======================================================================
Please Read Entire Document for Full Explanation of Procedures
--------------------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION
An Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI PCI Host Adapter was installed in a Dell
Optiplex XL590. When OS/2 Warp is started, the system locks up.
The driver provided by Adaptec is AIC7870.ADD, dated 8-08-95, 2:44 a.m.,
with a file size of 40,956 bytes. It displays the following when used
with the /V option:
Total number of PCI buses present: 1
Adaptec 7800 Family Driver for OS/2 v2.1x Warp v3.x/d1.2
Copyright (C) 1994, 1995 Adaptec, Inc. All Rights Reserved
Adapter 0 Base Port: FC00 IRQ: 0B SCSI ID: 7
Target 3 LUN: TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-3301TA0272
Target 5 LUN: 0 SEAGATE ST3285N 9539
RESOLUTION
The problem is with the IBM1S506.ADD driver on the OS/2 Warp Connect CD.
This file is dated 4-21-95 and has a size of 28,900 bytes. Replacing
this driver with the one in the latest OS/2 Warp FixPak corrects the
startup problems. The new driver is dated 8-28-95 and has a size of
31,240 bytes.
