TITLE: EXECUTING SVGA.EXE HANGS SYSTEM.
DESCRIPTION OF SYMPTOMS:
Run DSPINSTL and when svga.exe executes the system will
hang.
SUMMARY OF RESOLUTIONS:
Verify that your hardware along with OS/2 will support svga
resolution. If so, then install svga video drivers using
an alternate procedure.
DETAILS OF RESOLUTION:
1. Verify that your hardware along with OS/2 will support
svga resolution.
2. Boot from the DOS partition or a DOS
bootable diskette.
3. Execute SVGA ON DOS from the prompt.
4. Validate the contents of SVGADATA.DOS such as the total
memory detected, etc.
5. Boot OS/2.
6. Copy the SVGADATA.DOS FILE to the OS2 directory on
the OS2 boot drive.
7. Rename or copy the SVGADATA.DOS to SVGADATA.PMI.
8. Now execute RSPDSPI.EXE:
RSPDSPI /PK:SVGA /SK:NONE /S:A: /T:C:\ /MC:8
/S:A: - this is the source diskette drive /T:C:\ - root
directory of the OS/2 boot drive /MC:8 - manufacturers code

3=tseng
4=western digital
5=ati
6=speedstar
7=cirrus logic
