LOCKUP UTILITY PROBLEMS

Please Read Entire Document For Full Explanation of Procedures

SYMPTOMS:
You forgot your OS/2 Lockup password
Your password is not being recognized
Unable to exit from lockup or you are in loop
PROCEDURE:
FOR OS/2 WARP:
1. Turn the system off for 30 seconds, and then turn on the
computer.
2. When a small white box appears in the upper left-hand corner
of your screen, press Alt+F1.
3. When the Recovery Choices screen appears, press C.
4. Change from drive A: to the drive on which OS/2 is installed.
Type: X: and press Enter
Where X: is where OS/2 resides, C:, D:, etc.
5. Change to the OS2 directory.
Type: CD \OS2 and press Enter.
6. Type: MAKEINI OS2.INI LOCK.RC
7. Press Enter.
8. Restart the computer.
FOR OS/2 2.x:
1. Perform shutdown. If you're unable to shutdown, turn the
system off for 30 seconds.
2. Insert the Installation Diskette in drive A:
3. Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart the system if you shutdown.
Turn the computer on if you turned it off.
4. When prompted, remove the Installation Diskette and insert
Diskette 1 and press Enter.
5. When the Welcome Screen appears, press Esc to display the A:
prompt.
6. Type: X: and press Enter.
Where X: is where OS/2 resides, C:, D:, etc)
7. Type: CD \OS2 and press Enter
8. Type: ATTRIB OS2.INI -R and press Enter.
9. Type: MAKEINI OS2.INI LOCK.RC and press Enter.
10. Type: ATTRIB OS2.INI +R and press Enter
11. When the "MAKEINI SUCCESSFUL" message appears, remove the
diskette and restart the machine.
You can now reset the password. If you have any problems with
this procedure contact OS/2 Customer Support at 1-800-992-4777.
SYMPTOMS:
Lockup automatically locks up and you don't want it to
automatically lockup.
You want to change or adjust settings for lockup.
PROCEDURE:
1. Click with right mouse button on an empty area of the desktop
to display pop-up menu.
2. Select the arrow to the right of Open.
3. Select Settings.
4. Select the Lockup tab.
5. Select No Automatic Lockup, if you do not want automatic
lockup.
You can change other setting, including Timeout, click on
the right side arrow and adjust the minutes to your choice.
6. Point to the title-bar icon and double click to close the
notebook.
