  20. |  OVERVIEW:
  21. |
  22. |ES CID creates two processes, one for the install program
  23. |(ESAINST/ESAINSTS) and the other for the progress meter
  24. |(ESASHELL).
  25. |Each time ESAINSTS finishes a particular step, it puts a
  26. |message on the queue for ESASHELL to process and display
  27. |on the progress meter.  When the installation is done,
  28. |ESAINST puts a final message on the queue and terminates
  29. |its execution.  NVDM/2 will then detach the CID drive after
  30. |it receives the return code from ESAINST.  However, since
  31. |ESASHELL is running on a different process, it may be
  32. |finished after ESAINST (this can happen when the client has
  33. |either high activities or low RAM). If some of ESASHELL's
  34. |pages were discarded by OS/2 (to make room for active programs
  35. |at the time these pages were removed) and NVDM/2 already
  36. |detached the drive containing CID code (because ESAINST
  37. |finished earlier),  OS/2 cannot reload the missing code pages
  38. |for ESASHELL and thus issues a TRAP E and the SYS2070 message.

  40. |The current recommendation to solve this problem is to use
  41. |to use '/NOPM' to not display the progress meter
  42. |(e.g. ESAINST /NOPM ...).
  43. |This particular problem would not happen in CM/2 CID
  44. |because both the install program and the progress meter are
  45. |running as separate threads in the same process.
