| HOW TO RESOLVE SYS1201 PROBLEMS |
| WITH THE SDLCDD.SYS DRIVER |
| |
|LAST UPDATE: 12/17/92 BY: RHB |
| |
|PURPOSE: THIS INFORMATION APAR PROVIDES INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW |
| TO RESOLVE SYS1201 WITH THE SDLCDD.SYS DRIVER |
| |
+-------------------------------------------------------------+
|
| OVERVIEW.
|
| 1. RESOLVING A SYS1201 PROBLEM WITH SLDC DRIVER.
|
|
+-------------------------------------------------------------+
| 1. RESOLVING A SYS1201 PROBLEM WITH SLDC DRIVER.
+-------------------------------------------------------------+
|
|
| A. If the machine is an ISA bus machine (IBM AT or equivalent
| regardless of processor) then the following limitations
| apply:
|
| 1. The SDLC Driver cannot be used at the same time
| as the OS/2 {SERIAL} mouse device driver or the
| asynchronous device driver.
| 2. An SDLC device driver and an Asynchronous adapter
| cannot be used concurrently.
|
| In either of the cases above, please comment out all mouse
| device drivers and asynchronous device drivers in the
| config.sys file and reboot the machine.
|
| Note: Some Personal Computer Manufacturers (PCM) have
| unique system startup procedures which allocate the COM1
| and COM2 ports PRIOR to the config.sys file execution.
| Please check with your PCM manufacturer to ensure that
| the COM1 and COM2 ports are not pre-allocated.
|
|
| B. Ensure that the R0CSDD.SYS device driver statement
| precedes the SDLCDD.SYS device driver statement in
| the config.sys file.
|
|
| C. Ensure that no other cards or applications in the
| machine are using Interrupt levels 3 or 4
| (IRQ3 or IRQ4) for communication.
| The SDLCDD.SYS device driver requires IRQ3 and IRQ4 for
| communications.
|
|
| D. Ensure that no other card in the machine is configured
| with a port address of 380-38F. This address is reserved
| for SDLC and/or BISYNC Communications by architecture.
|
|
| E. Ensure that the SDLCDD.SYS device statement appears only
| one time in the config.sys file.
|
|
| F. If the problem is unresolved by items A through E
| listed above then the fix for APAR JR06460 may be needed.
| Please contact the Support Center for the fix
| modules for the APAR.
