  14.     AutoCAD V10 386 is not compatible with OS/2 2.x.  If you
  15.     want to run AutoCAD V10, it must be the Standard AutoCAD V10.

  21.      1.  There are several levels of AutoCad V12; C1, C2, and C3.
  22.          AutoCAD V12 must be at level C2 or C3 in order to run under
  23.          an OS/2 2.1 DOS session.

  25.      2.  There is a fix that is available from AutoDesk that will update
  26.          level C1 to level C2.  The number for AutoDesk is (206)487-0490.

  48.    THE AutoDesk AutoCAD Release 12 PharLap Patch is supported
  49.    and up on Compuserve in the ACAD Forum.  It is in the
  50.    WHAT'S NEW library.  The filename is OS2PCH.ZIP.
  51.    Either type GO ACAD or just ACAD to get to the forum.

  54.    OS/2 2.1, or XRO6100 for OS/2 2.0 installed in order to be
  55.    able to run AutoCAD V12 C1 in an OS/2 VDM (DOS) session.

  74.    DOS Extender 4.1-ACAD2 is an update to version 4.1-ACAD which
  75.    AutoCAD V12 C1 currently uses.  The DOS Extender is an integral
  76.    part of AutoCAD.

  79.    DOS EXTENDER 4.1-ACAD2 BENEFITS

  82.       * Ability to run AutoCAD V12 C1 in a full screen OS/2 DOS session.

  87.    This update need only be done if you are interested in running
  88.    AutoCAD V12 C1 in an OS/2 2.x DOS session.  The environment for
  89.    running AutoCAD in an OS/2 Dos session is very similar to running
  90.    within a DOS session under Windows 3.1.  Please refer to the section
  91.    "Running AutoCAD 386 under Windows" in the Release 12 Installation
  92.    and Performance Guide.

  94.    It is also necessary to update the display driver "RCPSVADI.EXP."
  95.    This is more commonly known as the "SVADI" driver.  A new version
  96.    of this driver is enclosed on the update disk as well.

  100.                   INSTRUCTION TO UPDATE AUTOCAD 12 C1
  101.                      TO USE DOS EXTENDER 4.1-ACAD2
  102.

  104.    A program called NEWDX.EXE has been supplied on the enclosed DOS
  105.    Extender update disk.  NEWDX will remove DOS Extender 4.1-ACAD from
  106.    AutoCAD V12 C1 and replace it with version 4.1-ACAD2.
  107.  
  108.    NEWDX will work with AutoCAD R12 C0 and AutoCAD R12 C1. If you
  109.    are using a digitizer, we recommend that you upgrade to AutoCAD
  110.    V12 C1 for improved digitizer performance.
  111.  
  112.    This procedure should be done on the installed copy of AutoCAD V12 C1,
  113.    and NOT on the original floppies.  The operational steps are as
  114.    follows:
  115.  
  116.      1.  Change directories to your AutoCAD V12 C1 executable directory.
  117.  
  118.                          CD\ACAD
  119.  
  120.      2.  Back up your copy of ACAD.EXE
  121.  
  122.                          COPY ACAD.EXE ACADSAV.EXE

  127.      3.  Copy the DOS Extender update program into the executable
  128.          directory

  130.                          COPY A:NEWDX.*

  132.      4.  Execute the program NEWDX.EXE

  134.                          NEWDX ACAD.EXE

  136.      5.  NEWDX preserves any DOS Extender switch settings that you may
  137.          have had in the earlier version of the DOS Extender.

  139.      6.  If for any reason you encounter problems with DOS Extender
  140.          version 4.1-ACAD2, simply copy back the saved executable into
  141.          ACAD.EXE.

  146.      7.  Update the "RCPSVADI.EXE" driver.

  152.           The updated driver contains a workaround for an OS/2 bug.
  153.           It will work fine on all environments.

  155.    VIDEO RESOLUTION

  157.    Run AutoCAD V12 C1 at 600x480x16 or 800x600x16 display resolution.
  158.    Higher resolutions or more colors may cause problems unless the
  159.    display driver has an intelligent screen grabber.

  162.    GENERAL OS/2 SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
  163.  
  164.    OS/2 runs AutoCAD V12 C1 much better with 16MB than 8MB.  The
  165.    time between applications is much better. Even more memory may
  166.    be required if you wish to run multiple sessions of AutoCAD.
