  6. This fax includes instructions on setting up the ATI card using:
  7.  
  8.                    MACH8
  9.                    MACH32
  10.

  15. Be sure you have the latest and correct driver for OS/2.

  19. ~~~~INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE MACH32 UTILITY:
  20.  
  21. Setting up the ATI MACH32 chipset to emulate IBM 8514, using the
  22. IBM 8514 Device drivers.
  23.  
  24. Video Cards with the MACH32 Chipset
  25.  
  26.        ATI VGA Wonder GT
  27.        ATI Graphics Ultra Plus
  28.        ATI Graphics Ultra Pro
  29.        ATI Ultra Professional
  30.  
  31. Summary for setting up the adapters
  32.  
  33. 1.  Setup the ATI Mach32 Card to emulate the 8514 video adapter
  34.     Select monitor type as CUSTOM and set resolutions as follows:
  35.  
  36.     a.   640x480  - Setup
  37.     b.   800x600  - NON-SUPORTED (This is not supported!!!)
  38.     c.  1024x768  - Setup
  39.     d.  1280x1024 - NON-SUPORTED (This is not supported!!!)
  40. 2.  Setup the Memory Aperture.
  41.     a.  ISA bus systems
  42.         1.  Disable, if the system has more than 12MB of RAM
  43.         2.  Enable, set to 96MB, the apature should show as 100MB
  44.     b.  EISA bus systems
  45.         1.  Enable, set to 96MB, the apature should show as 100MB
  46. 3.  Setup the VGA MEMORY
  47.     a.  1MB of Video RAM on the video card
  48.             Set VGA MEMORY to SHARED
  49.     b.  2MB of Video RAM on the vidoe card
  50.             Set VGA MEMORY to 512K or 1MB
  51. 4.  Test video card
  52. 5.  Check system information, for 1MB or 2MB of VRAM
  53. 6.  Installation of OS/2
  54.         Install as a VGA system, then Selective install 8514.
  55. * Note: DO NOT run SVGA ON, it does not apply to this adapter!!!
  56.         If the SVGADATA.PMI file exists delete it!!!!
  57. * Note: Monitor must be capable of the higher refresh rates.
  58.         Check monitor specifications, to be sure
  59.  
  60. DETAIL for setting up the adapters
  61. 1.  Setup the ATI Mach32 Card to emulate the 8514 video adapter
  62.     a.  Boot off of a DOS diskette, with no memory management
  63.         programs
  64.     b.  Place the ATI installation diskette in the computer
  65.     c.  Change to the Drive
  66.         Type A: Press Enter (where 'A' is, drive the disk is in)
  67.     d.  Type INSTALL then press Enter
  68.     e.  Select POWER UP CONFIGURATION
  69.     f.  Select MONITOR TYPE
  70.     g.  Select CUSTOM
  71.         * Take note of the Warning
  72.         1)  Select 640X480
  73.             a.  IBM Default / 60 Hz (whichever is present)
  74.         2)  Select 800x600
  75.             a.  Select "NON-SUPPORTED"
  76.         3)  Select 1024x768
  77.             a.  Select Highest refresh rate monitor can handle
  78.             *   For refresh rates, check monitor specifications
  79.             b.  If, there are no monitor specifications.
  80.                 1)  A good starting point is 72Hz
  81.                 2)  Select the desired refreash reate (72Hz)
  82.                 3)  Adjust the screen via the instructions on
  83.                     the screen
  84.                 * If you can not see the screen press ESC. to
  85.                   return, and select different refreash rate.
  86.                 * The possible refresh rates are 72Hz, 70Hz,
  87.                   60Hz NonInterlaced, 87.5Hz Interlaced)
  88.                 4)  Continue until the screen is, as desired
  89.         4)  Select 1280x1024
  90.             a.  Select "NON-SUPPORTED"
  91.     h.  Press ESC,  Hit "Y" to save changes
  92.     i.  Press F10 to save the Changes.
  93. 2.  Setup the Memory Aperture.

  103.             Set VGA MEMORY to 512KB or 1MB
  104. 4.  Save Settings
  105.     a.  Return to the POWER UP CONFIGURATION menu
  106.     b.  Press F10, monitor will flicker while programming EPROM.
  107.     c.  Shutdown system then turn system off.  Restart system.
  108. 5.  ESC until the main menu, Select UTILITIES
  109.     a.  Select system information
  110.         1)  Check for 1MB of video memory, or 2MB (which ever the
  111.                 board has).
  112.         2)  Press ESC
  113.     b.  Select TEST
  114.         1)  Select RUN ALL TESTS
  115.         2)  Select JUST ONCE, for number of times to run tests
  116. 6.  Shutdown system then turn system off.  Restart system.
  117. 7.  Installation of OS/2
  118.       Install as a VGA system, then Selective Install 8514
  119.     * Note: DO NOT run SVGA ON, does not apply to this adapter!!
  120.             If the SVGADATA.PMI file exists delete it!!!!
  121. 8.  If the system is setup improperly. Or is not in the 8514 mode
  122.     a.  Do a selective installation of VGA support, then
  123.     b.  Do a selective installation of 8514 if the higher
  124.         resolution is desired, and supported (at least 1MB of
  125.         VRAM and a monitor which will support higher resolution).
  126.     * Note: Monitor must be capable of the higher refresh rates.
  127.             Check monitor specifications, to be sure.

  142. Summary for setting up the Adapter
  143.  
  144. 1.  Setup the ATI Mach8 Card to emulate the 8514 video adapter
